Ribnicko Lake

In addition to the artificial lake in the center of Zlatibor , there is another bigger lake Ribničko which is one of the jewels of mountain Zlatibor. Zlatibor waterworks system uses water from the lake.

Ribnica - a tourist village in the central part of Zlatibor was one of the first Zlatibor village that began with tourism. Even at the time of Jovan Mici (the beginning of the eighteenth century) , there was a tavern. Apart from few tourists at this time, this place was regularly visited by a families of wealthy Uzice drover . After World War II , the company " Zlatibor" was founded in Uzice, whose aim was to improve and build Ribnica . The dam was raised on the Black Rzav, near Ribnica in 1971 – then the artificial lake was created to supply Kraljeve Vode and Cajetina with drinking water .The lake is located in Ribnica , on the road to the ski centre Tornik. Although swimming is officially banned in summer months many tourists want to refresh in the crystal clear water of the lake.
